Hug a Tree and Survive

Hug a Tree and Survive is one of three programs offered by volunteer members of the Squamish Emergency Program (SEP) AdventureSmart Team. It is a program presented to Elementary School children, emphasizing four rules: (1) Always tell an adult where you are going and when you will be back, (2) If you find yourself lost, stop, don't panic, and Hug a Tree (stay in one place), (3) Stay warm and dry, and (4) Help the searchers find you. The other two programs they present are Survive Outside and Snow Safety Education. The programs are available year round, free of charge. Contact Al Modin at amodin@squamish/ca or go to www.adventuresmart.ca for more information.
